Number of People with HIV / AIDS in Aceh continues to Rise


This decade the number of people with HIV / AIDS in Acehcontinues to increase. Until November 2011, the sufferer reaches104 people.
"Then there was an increase, from 1 case in late 2004 to be 104cases per November 2011," said Mayor of Banda Aceh,Mawardy Nurdin, Monday (13/12), in a press conference in the mayor's office, after the World AIDS Day 2011.

Data released Department of Health, HIV / AIDS cases foundwere from 20 districts / cities in Aceh. Total does not include theNagan Raya, Singkil, and Subulussalam which until now has never reported such cases.
Banda Aceh itself, call Mawardy, up to now recorded 5 cases.Four of them had died.

Minimize the number of cases, the Mawardy said, Pemko BandaAceh has made a number of preventive measures andcountermeasures. Among open clinic sexually transmitted infections (STIs) at health center Kuta Alam.
"The clinic was conducted counseling, examination, andtreatment of ARV (anti retroviral) for free," he said.
In addition to opening the clinic, the Government since 2008 has opened the City AIDS Commission (KPAK) Banda Aceh.
"KPAK Banda Aceh among others, have done socialization for adolescents and society, in coordination with SKPD and NGOs concerned with HIV / AIDS," added Mawardy who was accompanied by Health Kadis of Banda Aceh, Dr Yulizar Media
